Medicare General Enrollment Period 2025 is Now Open!

The Medicare enrollment period that runs from January 1st to March 31st is called the "General Enrollment Period" (GEP), which allows individuals to sign up for Medicare Part A and Part B coverage if they missed their initial enrollment window; coverage typically starts the month after enrolling during this period​

This is your chance to:

Enroll in Medicare Part A and/or Part B: If you missed your initial enrollment period.

Switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage plan: If you're currently on Original Medicare (Part A and Part B).

Switch from one Medicare Advantage plan to another: If you're currently enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan.

Switch from a Medicare Advantage plan back to Original Medicare: If you're currently enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan.

Enroll in, change, or drop a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan: If you're on Original Medicare or in a Medicare Advantage plan.

Changes made during the General Enrollment Period usually take effect the first day of the month after you enroll.

You may have to pay a late enrollment penalty if you didn't enroll in Medicare Part B when you were first eligible.
